The United States Naval Sailing Foundation
The United States Naval Sailing Foundation (USNSF) is an organization whose mission is to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. It aims to facilitate donations, provide a source of revenue, and to acquire and hold property for the benefit of the sailing program of the United States Navy.
USNSF is classified as a tax exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) by the IRS.
The Foundation purpose is to educate Navy men and women and others in the science and art of seamanship under sail and for the further purposes of benefiting and improving the state of such science and art.
The Foundation provides as needed support to the United States Sailing Association(USNSA). The Association provides an operational reach to the Foundation, acting as an umbrella organization to primarily military sailing associations around the world.
The Foundation has a Board of Directors consisting of less than eight members. Meetings are held annually.
